Crumbs (Performance)

This piece documents the Crumbs performance presented at the 7a11d performance festival in Toronto. The piece depicts 4 scantily glad women eating, collecting, playing with and fighting each other for bread crumbs. The video projection in the background presents close-ups of the artist stuffing these crumbs in her mouth. The artist was inspired by insatiability as well as scarcity and the need to attempt to meet one’s unending needs with ridiculously little. In this work, hunger is depicted as a monstrous and destructive force that brings the performers in a trance-like state in the attempt to satiate it.
