The result of a month-long residency in Bridport, Dorset, The Film is a neither a documentary nor a fiction, but rather an open-ended free-associative collaboration between filmmaker and members of the Bridport community. Arriving as a stranger I met with strangers, and asked them to enter into a new life – the making of a film. Together we devised and improvised a film as a way of passing time together. The Film is not narrative, character or content driven. The process was closer to what might be termed automatic, structured around happenstance and made by way of a collective cinematic wandering. �
