Elegy: A Meditation on Mortality
2010, 10:15 minutes, colour, English
Elegy, subtitled A Meditation on Mortality, considers the basic human experience of bodily fragility and the inevitability of death. Moving beyond this inherently melancholy theme, the artist expresses an affirmative engagement with the cycle of life. Elegy is an abstracted, layered composition that combines live video with a variety of animation techniques in an evocative and poetic manner.
Elegy is best viewed as a single-channel installation, with the projection approximately 8 ft (2.5 metres) wide in a dark space.
