This work features our ventriloquist dummy doppelgangers. They appear as independent beings babbling away in a demented series of high-pitched fractured monologues. The setting is some kind of compressed theatrical situation and the dummies are shot in skewed and extreme closeup. Within this claustrophobic setting their words touch on a disturbing and perverse universe of psycho-capitalist desires, and barely concealed fears of visceral exploitation by a voracious beast-system.

The use of fictive self-portraiture and doppelganger selves has been an important element of our work. Our presence within the work has always been a performed presence; using doppelgangers has been a way to speak through multiple personae. Creating and inhabiting these shifting personae, has allowed us the freedom to explore aspects of contemporary culture – such as consumerism, the cult of celebrity, political agency and disenfranchisement - without the restrictions of a singular, authoritative voice.
