There are restrictions on releasing government-sponsored research on viral infections in wild and farmed salmon and trout populations in Canada.

The public should know that the virus ‘IHN’ is present in trout and salmon populations in both the Atlantic and Pacific waters of Canada.

IHN, Infectious Hematopoietic Necrosis, is a viral disease of rainbow trout and other salmonoids. IHN is related to the Lyssavirus. It is a rabies virus that attacks fish.
