A special message to our youth, based on the poem "Salutations", this is an oral tribute of respect and homage to our elders. The need for healing within the native communities as well as healing between native and non-native communities has never been more present. Traditionally, it is the elders that assist the individual, the family and the community both emotionally, physically and spiritually. Despite residential schools and legislation outlawing cultural knowledge, our elders have endured. Suffering through racism and pain they retain what they had been given and taught by their elders. Native culture was never "dead", it was kept alive in the quiet whispers of the elders.
