Briefcase on Fire

Briefcase on Fire was the second collaborative work completed with Todd Ribalkin. Shot on 8mm film, then transferred to digital video, the entire clip is unedited and remains as it was originally shot. A briefcase burning on an open road is a dialogue between image and meaning: here the briefcase completely consumed in flames eventually collapses under its own weight - a suitable visual metaphor for what happens when an economic system's very nature is predicated on the myth of unlimited growth -its result, naturally, is failure.
