Mood makes use of appropriated imagery and sound. Because Mood is entirely constructed from appropriated content and no original content, I call it a video assemblage. Mood brings together 3 components: a doomed NASA rocket, haunted tribal chanting and a sad popular song. All imagery is taken from the 1984 film Koyaanisqatsi (meaning as translated into English as Life Out of Balance). The sound score combines tribal chanting with Gary Jules rendition of Mad World. Each component of the work is designed to elicit emotional reflection in the viewer.
