VIDEOtapeRBG + OWEN is a video performance by Gotro and by Owen: recorded in the artist's studio, it shows the multiple attempts by Gotro at singing Radiohead’s song “VIDEOtapeRBG”.

Here all 'vocal takes' are mixed together simultaneously, turning the idea of ‘the perfect vocal take’ on its' ear. both an on ode to webcam video culture as popularized by YouTube and its' users, as well as a direct, albeit ‘tongue-in-cheek’ commentary on digital studio manipulation as heard on virtually all-contemporary pop-records today. The result is a multilayer cacophony of off-key singing, misremembered lyrics, and performed actions/reactions. Indulgent? Comedic? Terrible? Wonderful? Uncomfortable? All things can be found herein.

OWEN - Owen, Gotro’s long-time friend is captured moments after he has seen VIDEOtapeRBG for the first time. He has something to say and wants to be video taped saying it. The result is pure honesty as Owen is in true form: uninhibited, fueled by alcohol and cigarettes, providing a humorous quasi-critical, and most importantly, immediate reaction to what he has just watched.
