Snehalata Reddy was incarcerated in the Bangalore Central Jail in 1976 during the State of Emergency declared by Indira Gandhi, with no hearing, no charges filed and no recourse to a court of law. She died on the 20th of January 1977, before the Emergency was lifted. She was an artist, actor, political activist and flamenco dancer.
