Low-rider cars are vehicles customized, mostly by Latinos, to ride low and slow. The car stops functioning merely as a vehicle of transport and becomes a cultural signifier messing up the built-for-speed freeways of Southern California. It is a means of being seen in a context that denies visibility and participation. Like its music and the machines it portrays, this video uses technology to appropriate, sample and create an aesthetic statement that mixes "high" and "low" cultures.
