Anishinabe from Wasauksing First Nation, John Robert Hupfield's chosen medium of expression is digital video. Engaged with his roots and heritage everyday, Hupfield uses video and digital art to learn how he is affected by the world around him, but even more importantly how he can affect the world. Continuing to create shorts since his first piece, Clear Cut in 2005, several of his shorts have screened at the imagineNATIVE Film + Media Arts Festival in Toronto as well as numerous rural schools and communities in Ontario. Working as an educator and facilitator, Hupfield is committed to helping youth express themselves and empower their own journeys in any way he can.
