Marusya Bociurkiw

Marusya Bociurkiw is a Vancouver based artist, author, and academic. In the face of mounting controversy surrounding recovered memories of childhood sexual abuse, she hopes this film will address some important questions: why do we always look at the effects of abuse and never the causes? Is Freud's little known ambivalence about recovered memory (he admitted it existed but acknowledged its fluidity) something the courts could learn from? As Roberto Benigni seems to ask with his controversial holocaust comedy "Life is Beautiful", how do we locate humour and sensuality amid tragedy? "Nancy Drew and the Mystery of the Haunted Body" tackles these questions with sensitivity, irreverence and panache.
