Franziska von Rosen did her graduate training ethnomusicology and videography at Brown University, Rhode Island. Since 1985 she has been working with artists and musicians in First Nations communities in the Atlantic region and particularly in Big Cove, learning about and recording music stories and visual art. Together with Michael W. Francis, she directed and produced the video Micmac Storyteller: River of Fire. In 1993 she founded Pinegrove Productions, a company with a focus towards community based, co-produced educational and documentary video.
