Pavel Erokhin was born in 1964 in the city of Astrakhan, in the South East of Russia. After graduating from a Technical Institute of Fisheries in 1986, he worked as an officer in charge of refrigeration engineering on vessels in the North Atlantic. in 1992 he gave up his life at sea and began working as a camera-man and director of music video-programs at one of the first private cable TV companies in his home city, where he got to know the potential of video as an art. In 1995 he emigrated to Canada, and in 2000 he graduated from O.C.A.D., Toronto. While taking courses in the Integrated Media program, he produced and made several videos, based on his life Experience, including "Pervert" (1999) and "Butch Cleaning Lady" (2000).
