Elisa Kukla

Elisa Kukla is a visual artist, critic and educator. Her multi-media art work has been exhibited at the York Quay Gallery, OCAD Gallery, 401 Richmond Street, Toronto. Her commissions include a temporary site-specific installation (Pond Creature) for Harbourfront, Toronto, 1999. A permanent site-specific installation (Ark) on Kibbutz LoTan, Israel, 1998.
She studied sculpture and installation at Bennington College in Vermont and Religious Studies and Visual Studies at the University of Toronto. she is currently an arts writer for Xtra, Toronto's queer bi-weekly paper, as well as Eye entertainment weekly. Elisa was the Artistic Coordinator of Ashkenaz: A Festival of New Yiddish Culture from 1998 to 2000. she was the short film and video programmer for the 1999 festival. In addition to her work in the arts, Elisa is an educator and writer on Jewish topics and an activist in both the queer and Jewish community.
