Mieke Bal

Mieke Bal, a well-known cultural critic and theorist, holds the position of Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences Professor (KNAW). She is also Professor of the Theory of Literature in the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Amsterdam. Her many books include Travelling Concepts in the Humanities: A Rough Guide (University of Toronto Press, 2002) and Narratology: Introduction to the Theory of Narrative (University of Toronto Press, 1997). A Mieke Bal Reader is forthcoming from the University of Chicago Press. She is also a video artist.
