In this article, the author defends the significance of political modernism in the postmodern era by postulating that metanarratives still play a vital role in society. The works of David Askevold covered in this article work as modernist artworks by unravelling many of the assumptions of the modernist metanarrative, such as the rational subject, the autonomous individual, and cause-and-effect relationships.
