Art Against Incest: Feminist Artists Challenge the Conspiracy of Silence

A focus is taken on exploring a Los Angeles Based project titled the Incest Awareness Project , which is a nationally focused cultural action project, started by a group of feminist artist and activists. The exhibition explored in this article is entitled Bedtime Stories: Women Speak Out About Incest. Key pieces explored include Nancy Angelo's Equal Time in Equal Space, which is a video installation of six women sharing their stories of their experiences with incest, and Terry Wolverton's In Silence Secrets Turn to Lies/ Secrets Shared Become Sacred Truth, a performance piece dealing with the author's own personal experience with incest. The article discusses how the Incest Awareness Project was bringing incest to light, and informing us of the seriousness and extent of the problem.
