This article from an exhibition catalogue explores the ideas and incarnations of art on television. The exhibition presents 67 works and programs produced for television which reflect landmark attempts to represent the creative vitality and diversity of style that the form of television can offer. The article explores the public broadcasting apparatus in the United States that fostered experiments with art on television and explores some of the organizations which fostered similar experimentation throughout Europe.
