The Anxious Images of Deirdre Logue

by Penny McCann

Art Star 3 Video Art Biennial, 2007

Ottawa: Galerie SAW Gallery, 2007

Curator and SAW Video Director Penny McCann describes Deirdre Logue's fifteen years of video art revolving around concepts of the self-as-subject, anxiety, confession and intimacy. Analyzing and commenting on Logue's body of work which involves disturbing corporeal performances on camera that transforms her into "freakish spectacle", McCann concludes that the artist as author renders herself invisible while her image persists on the screen and within the viewer's consciousness long after the camera is turned off.
