Video culture bridges gap between art, culture: Canadian artists uneasy at second-class standing
Excalibur, Nov. 1983, v. 18, no. 10, p. 15
A review of the then new Video Culture Festival, which documents the obvious tensions between mainstream and artistic interests during the festival. A number of symposiums discussed the evolution of technology and the medium, however, artists were weary that issues of access and integrity were not being addressed. The article goes on to review some of the individual work presented. Iwachiw believes, tensions aside, that with the number of corporate sponsorships and special guests the festival can be seen as a positive step forward for video culture.
