An article providing a retrospective of the work of Bay Area erformance and video artist Theresa Cha. Her work is driven by an obsession with language, and her videotapes emphasise the artifical nature of visual continuity by intercutting words with images, creating a jarring but entirely new synthesis of depiction and description. Thematically, she uses video to explore issues of memory, past and longing.
