The first in a series of writings by artist and poet Vera Frenkel. The first section is a meditation on the power of both art and language to simultaneously veil and unveil, expose and protect, the artist/performer/author. In the second section, Frenkel adopts the metaphor of the tightrope to explain the process of solo writing or "writing as a way of thinking." In the third and last section, Frenkel discusses the relationship between art and politics in Canada.
