Surveillance in Suburbia: High Vaue Targets
Afterimage, 2010, v. 37, no. 6, pp. 27-28
Judith Parker reviews Cheryl Pagurek's multimedia (video and digital photography) exhibition "High Value Target," at the Patrick Mikhail Gallery in Ottawa. The video and still images in Pagurek's work present juxtaposed footage from the war in Iraq and scenes from suburban American middle-class homes. In her review, Parker helps us trace lines between these paired images to demonstrate the connections between foreign and domestic security, as well as parallels among the enforcement of military security and and a maternal concern for order in the home.
