This article offers an overview of the career of Canadian artist Michael Snow, focusing on the material, phenomenological, and aural aspects of his screen works. Moreover, Marchessault foregrounds the intermedial nature of Snow's artistic practice which incorporates aspects from a multiplicity of media such as painting, film, video, installation art, and sound art, amongst others. At the same time, Marchessault emphasizes the medium-specificity of every piece under examination and how that is key to engaging with each work.
