This video is based on a book by Chilean author Diamela Eltit who, in the work, reads fragments of her novel Por La Patria (For The Country). The setting is a now closed and abandoned print shop which had been during the 1960's and 1970's one of Chile's most important. It is a most appropriate symbol of the bankruptcy of official culture under dictatorship. The video represents the interaction of two cultures: life in the context of death.
