My Trip to Jasper

John Morgan

1994, 11:45 minutes, colour, English

TAPECODE 164.02

Recorded in the lounge car, in winter, on the train between Edmonton and Jasper, this tape began as a development of a special effect in a context of an extended tracking shot. In post-production, however, the tape became as much about tweaking manual controls of the time base correctors to sustain or hide the effect (limitations of the NTSC system) as it is about metaphor.
Musician Ley Ward used the location sound, modified in editing, as a basis for the guitar work and soundtrack.
