To explore media's ability to promote AIDS awareness, 10 contemporary video artists, collectively known as Second Decade, have designed and produced a series of hip yet very intelligent 30 second TV spots which work as channel hopping stoppers to deliver lifesaving messages. The spots were produced at the Banff Centre for the Arts with support from the Department of Communications, Levi-Strauss Canada and The Tim Jocelyn Art Foundation.
Intended to appeal to a broad cross-section of audiences, the ten spots reflect the influences of music videos and advertising. Using sophisticated graphics, accessible narratives, digital video and audio effects and original music, the spots attract and sustain viewers' attention over repeated viewings.
