This important video is a powerful indictment of the lives disabled people are forced to endure. The topic is seldom dealt with in any artistic or literary format and is crucial viewing for those interested in disability issues. Between the Cracks: Poverty and Disability is a video by Judy Koch, herself a disabled woman.

Among the people featured in the video is a working woman with cerebral palsy who spends huge amounts of money to meet her special needs. There is a native woman who had a successful business which was taken over by white men. Because she had a birth mark of a black eye she found it very difficult getting any kind of work. People that looked at her often thought of the racist stereotype of a violent alcoholic woman and so discriminated against her. Another story is about a skilled worker that had an accident at work. He tells about his hassles trying to keep his home.
