I Don't See Anything

Mary Cross

1998, 16:00 minutes, Colour, English

TAPECODE 265.01

An on the fly deconstructionist documentary about the ghost in my basement. The shaky handheld camera, eerie lighting and matter of fact narration serve to unnerve the viewer while illuminating the process of video production. This one take, none edited, genre experiment tells a ghost story and revisits the site of the haunting. A burgeoning relationship between the narrator and the camera person adds a subtext that involves the exhibition and exchange of vulnerability and trust.
