She's a Diva is a comic send up of an operatic narrative turned on its head. Using the original song written and composed by Sheila James as the sound track, the images and words tell the story of The Hero played by Ceri Warwick-Foster. He is tall, dark and handsome and he knows it. He can and does have any woman he wants... but he wants someone special... "the diva of the opera stage". When the hero turns his eyes to The Diva, played by Leslie Ewen, he meets his match and is upstaged by her presence, her actions and her evil intentions. She is a motorcycle riding, table stomping, meat cutting woman in gold.
Through the use of rich colours in the set and costumes, the power of opera and the Diva herself is evoked in this short. She's a Diva features a grand performance by Leslie Ewen and a cast of comic characters. It features the musical talent of Vancouver's top musicians.

She's a Diva was created as part of the video DIVA TV produced by Western Front Media for the Re-Inventing the Diva Festival held Oct. 14-18, 1998.
