Dear Mom and Dad is an extremely difficult story of familial homophobia. Shot in four locations (a super market, the back of a car, a laundry mat, a living room), the main character meditates on the damage she is suffering from her parents’ rejection. Throughout each event, the character recites an aggravated letter written to her parents. The content of the letter is a mixture of the language of resistance and the splayed kind of narrative of trauma. Dear Mom and Dad draws inspiration from the music video format in terms of its style and sound editing.
