"A multitude of cultural images and sounds that thread themes of memory, time, and homeland into a beautifully intricate work.” Ariana Proehl-Co-Curator Women of Color Film Festival - Pacific Film Archive, Berkeley

"...an elegiac film poem." Micheal Fox - San Francisco International Film Festival Program notes.

Jagadakeer…. between the near & east, is a deeply personal film, a mediation of sorts and a hybrid of styles that consists of a complex series of transitions to explore memory, nostalgia, displacement, erasure and
reconnection using the Armenian genocide as a point of departure and visual/aural backdrop.

Nuance and gesture are accentuated by stories and sounds, as the use of recurring but disparate narratives are interrupted and staggered, which continually forces the viewer to the edge of knowing the locale or how to
locate themselves. These starts and stops, like memory itself, evoke a sense
of homeland, a lost and enigmatic landscape.

**Jagadakeer is an Armenian term meaning fate; destiny or literally what is written on ones forehead.
