"PUSH PUSH: RECALLING THE U.S. PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION '00, a performance video installation by Joyan Saunders & Kathleen Tetcock, explores our addiction to media, our shifting notions of 'breaking news' and the relationship between first world and developing-nation feminism. This irreverent and humourous installation plays with the relationship of gender and power, and furthermore, the cultivation of fear as a classic abuse of this power. The installation evokes 'harem', 'souk', 'home' and 'army tent', conflating and imbricating sites of engagement relevant to recent events."
