Determined to spend an entire season avoiding the field, the videomaker steers sports documentary from the sidelines and locker rooms to the overlooked 'extended game.' Meet the Crimson Tide superfans (to date, the Alabama's Crimson Tide has won 12 National NCAA Football Championships), who inhabit $10,000-a-seat luxury skyboxes and quarter-of-a-million dollar motor homes. This behind-the-scenes access to the 'bigger game' allows the viewer to question whether these major players are winners - or victims of their own success. This obsession with football suggests both regional pride and a curious national need to belong through sports spectatorship.
