There are shark derbies up and down the north Atlantic coast. Recreational shark fishing is encouraged by government scientists as a means of keeping track of the size and health of the stocks. This video document examines the strange relationship between fishermen and biologists as both parties examine the yield of a shark fishing contest in Brooklyn, Nova Scotia. On the afternoon of this video documentation, 29 blue sharks caught far off shore were weighed, measured and dissected. Half were male and half were female.
