The Assassination of Leon Trotsky as told by Anton Chekhov

The bicycle under the tree at the beginning is the past. The house in the forest belongs to Chekhov, although he never lived there. The woman in the middle is not Trotsky, however, she might be a victim. The sound of the footsteps are those of a painter named Ronald K. The voices are everyone else. The second bicycle at the end is the future.

Ronald wrote to me in Stockholm saying he had no idea I felt so close to Trotsky’s humiliation to have put myself in his place, to put myself into the picture.

It’s possible that he misunderstood my intentions - I only wanted to press a fiction into art.
