The Chipmunks

Robert Lendrum

2006, 05:58 minutes, colour, English

TAPECODE 326.04

In The Chipmunks Lendrum casts Dutch actress Jacqueline van de Geer in the role of himself to tell an improvised story from his childhood. Her performance is absurd, unsettling and sincere. Shot in Lendrum’s family barn in the hamlet of Fallbrook, Ontario, the piece provides a genuine and humourous look at issues of identity, memory and authorship.

The Chipmunks is one in a series of videos entitled Impostor: A Self-Portrait (326.07), in which Lendrum and van de Geer collaborate.
