Framing Device is a nearly half-hour video timeline structured (or framed by) the need for perhaps one or three individuals to maintain a high-level secret. Framing Device is therefore a work about social media and also Google downloads. The video takes place over a thirty-seven day duration. Each day is characterized by different drawings......either original or downloaded from Google. The drawings are processed...some are abstract and some are based on images that cannot be completely abstracted. On some days, there is a voice-over commenting on the process of maintaining the secret as well as on world and local events or issues. On many days, there are no voice-overs. Framing Device is and is not dramatic...since its structure does create a tension demanding some sort of resolution or relief.
