Dawn Dumont is from the Okanese First Nation, and recently wrote and directed her first short film, The Indian Male (Official Selection imagineNATIVE Media Arts Festival, 2004). The film has already received critical attention and acclaim.
Dawn learned screenwriting at the Cancom Aboriginal Screenwriter’s Workshop at the Banff Centre of the Arts, Ryerson University and George Brown College. She is also an accomplished playwright and was the 2003 Playwright-in-Residence for Native Earth Performing Arts.
Dawn is currently working on her second short film.
