"Reproduction Prohibited" evokes themes of gender construction and sexual trauma within a nonlinear, dance-derived formal sensibility. Drawing on the imagery and sensibility of 1970s educational filmstrips, the video manipulates these images through tactile cut and paste, fragmenting details of the 35mm originals on to 16mm clear leader, then animates them digitally. Kinetically displaced images of high school wrestling and swimming are keyed to the electro-acoustic composition of Monica Clorey in a dense but fluid and sprightly cascade of increasingly manic physical display.
